What is NR 12 Training?
The objective of the course is to
address the fundamental principles of specialization in the treatment of steel
and cast iron by hot-dip galvanizing, leading participants to the understanding
of zinc plating processes, applicable technical standards, quality control
methods, parts preparation techniques, safety at work, among other relevant
aspects.
What is the importance of the E-STOP Function and in the context of the
safety of machinery and equipment?
The Emergency Stop Function is one
of the essential safety requirements in machinery and equipment, as established
in the Regulatory Standard NR 12 and other relevant technical standards. It
consists of a device or system that, when triggered, immediately interrupts the
operation of the machine or equipment, interrupting the process and preventing
damage and injury.
This function is extremely
important for safety, as it allows operators or other people to quickly and
reliably interrupt the operation of the machine in emergency situations, such
as:
Occurrence of failures or
unexpected problems;
Presence of imminent risk of
accidents;
Need for immediate intervention on
the machine;
Unexpected events that may put the
physical integrity of workers at risk.
When triggering the Emergency Stop
Function, the machine or equipment control system must immediately stop all
hazardous functions, removing the power source and preventing unwanted movement
or starting. This is essential to prevent serious accidents and minimize
potential damage.
What is the acronym PLC for
Safety, according to NR 12?
"Safety Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) is a computerized
electronic equipment - hardware, which uses programmable memory to store and
internally execute specific instructions and functions of program - software,
such as logic, sequencing, timing, counting, arithmetic and safety blocks,
controlling and monitoring through safety inputs and outputs various types of
machines or processes. The safety PLC must have three basic operating
principles: - redundancy, diversity and self-testing. The installed software
must ensure its effectiveness in such a way as to minimise the possibility of
errors arising from human error in the design, in order to avoid compromising
any safety-related function, as well as not allowing modification of the
specific safety function blocks."
